Employment Type Full time Shift Day Shift Description Trinity Health Livingston Hospital Location: Brighton, MI Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift Responsible for conducting exercise stress tests based on physician orders, clinical assessment, and standard protocols. Also tasked with conducting Cardiac Rehabilitation classes and providing education to Cardiac Rehabilitation patients. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates emergency procedures. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps identify problems, offers solutions, and participates in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and visitor information. Assumes responsibility for job duties in the safest possible manner, reporting hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Stress Testing Demonstrates knowledge of indications for various types of stress tests and methods of testing. Follows SJMHS Cardiovascular Lab protocols for patient assessment, preparation, ECG recordings/monitoring, test performance, test end points, and recovery monitoring. Notifies medical staff of abnormal pre-test conditions and test results. Documents pertinent information and applies preliminary test results for physician interpretation. Assists with training and orientation of new employees and interns. Demonstrates flexibility related to work schedule, location, patient type, and work environment. Completes competency test for use of crash cart and performs regular check-offs. Requires travel to regional offices and weekend call, including cardiac rehab rounding. Completes documentation in Powerchart, Nextgen, and Heartlab. May assist on a rotational basis with ECGs, Holter/Event Monitor placement, scanning, and MUSE editing. Assists in other departments as needed. Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehabilitation Passion for improving patient health and establishing relationships. Monitors and motivates patients during rehabilitative exercises. Develops a customized Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) for each patient. Tracks and bills patient sessions for program progression. Motivates patients to attend all sessions for success and sustainability. Conducts new patient orientations covering cardiac event, risk factors, signs and symptoms, equipment, gym, and monitor instructions. Uses strong teaching and cardiac assessment skills. Organizes high-volume patient programs through various cardiac rehab classes. Communicates effectively, both verbally and non‑verbally, supporting lifestyle changes. Develops individualized cardiovascular risk reduction plans. Conducts Phase II classes according to policy and procedure. Completes reports and submits them to referring physicians. Reports significant medical abnormalities to physicians. Performs daily crash cart and glucometer checks. Provides mentoring and education to interns during cardiac rehab classes. Conducts daily rounds at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital on post‑cardiac procedure patients. Develops and reviews home exercise programs for Phase II rehab patients. Delivers organized weekly educational lectures to cardiac rehabilitation classes. Follows performance measures and guidelines of AACVPR accreditation. Assists in other departments as needed. Other Functions And Responsibilities Maintains active BLS and ACLS certifications. Successfully completes departmental defibrillator test and annual competencies. Responds appropriately in emergency situations, initiating CPR and other procedures quickly. Acts as part of the code team for outpatient offices. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure Education: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field, or must have successfully completed a cardiovascular program with a non‑invasive specialty. Experience: Experience in stress testing and cardiac rehab preferred. Must provide proof of CEP certification through ACSM prior to the end of the first year of employment. Required Skills And Abilities Vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges. Verbal and numerical abilities, and manual dexterity. Strong talking and listening skills. Ability to reach for and handle various equipment and use a computer keyboard. Experience working in hospital (inpatient) and outpatient (clinic) environments.
