Job Description: - Position: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse (CVICU RN) - Unit: 10 Bed Unit specializing in open heart recovery - Shift: Night Shift - Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent open heart recovery nursing - Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, PALS Position Overview: - Provide exceptional care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a cardiac medical surgical unit. - Offer physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients. - Anticipate a diverse range of patient populations including: - Pediatrics - Pre and post PCI care - Pacemaker and revascularization patients - Carotid endarterectomy and thoracotomy cases - Conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis - Operate advanced medical equipment including: - Central lines and chest tubes - Nasogastric tubes and continuous bladder irrigation - A-lines and multiple IVs - Short-term ventilation support - Care for general medical and surgical patients on the inpatient unit. - Assess, implement, and uphold established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. - Act as a clinical leader and assist in precepting staff. - Deliver direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
