Lab Technician (0-3 years)

Job Title

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Define essential functions of this position. List most complex or difficult parts of job first. • Understand, operate, and retain knowledge of the LIMS system.
• Demonstrate initiative to perform routine QC Responsibilities such as collection of manufacturing samples, adherence to clean room/gowning procedures, Health Care Company sample preparations, LIMS sample chain of custody and inventory control following appropriate procedures.
• Aliquot, filter, and label all routine, protocol, and special sample requests with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with aseptic filtration and sample pipetting techniques.
• Organize and maintain the Manufacturing lab freezers to facilitate storage and retrieval of samples. Utilize LIMS Equipment Management for recording equipment events.
• Provide input into developing and optimizing sample handling procedures.
• Support QC Retain Program requirements.
• Prepare and ship outgoing sample shipments as needed, track and order lab supplies, and perform general lab maintenance as needed.
• Comply with cGMP requirements. Assist in revising documents as needed.
• Contribute and adhere to safety, environmental, quality, and Lilly Corporate Standards.
• Maintain an elevated level of safety awareness. Communicate safety issues to management in a timely manner.
• Perform all duties with a high level of honesty and integrity.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION: Describe the knowledge and skill requirements for the position.

• Associates Degree. A science discipline preferred but not required.
• 0-2 years' experience in a cGMP biopharmaceutical industry or Quality Control laboratory preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to communicate across functional areas QA, QC, Clinical and Manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Must be able to follow detailed instructions and record information clearly and accurately.
• Proven track record of attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems LIMS software desirable.
• Proficiency with most MS Office applications.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Candidate will be available to work a 5 x 8 hour/day shift which will cover a weekend day. (Example: Sun – Thurs. or Tues – Sat)
• Some "call in" overtime to support manufacturing and/or meet business needs may be required.
