Licensed Architect (Senior Architect/ Architect Level III)

OpenScope Studio is a San Francisco–based architecture firm of approximately 20 people specializing in multifamily housing, adaptive reuse, residential design, commercial tenant improvements and housing policy consulting. We have remote staff in Los Angeles. Our current work is located throughout California. The Role We are seeking an Architect to lead projects from concept through construction. You will drive design, coordinate consultants, coordinate client relationships with project managers and oversee documentation across a range of project types and scales. The right candidate brings both design ambition and production rigor. It is expected that all candidates will have a professional workspace at home as we are working on a hybrid model and staff will be expected to be able to take video calls while working remotely. The job will initially require attendance at our Potrero Hill office at least 2 full days per week. Key Responsibilities Lead documentation and CA on concurrent projects of a variety of residential typologies. Provide feedback on design and detailing to junior staff. This may involve redlining other projects or sketching details to assist staff. Assist project managers with client communication and consultant coordination from SD through CA. Prepare and manage construction document sets in Revit. Navigate planning and building department review processes. Contribute to project scoping, fee development, and business development. Coordinate construction details with design intent and consultant work. Qualifications Required Licensed Architect Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch). 10-15 years of professional experience with increasing project responsibility. Strong Revit proficiency and BIM workflow experience. Experience with wood‑frame residential and multifamily construction. Experience with complicated renovation projects, particularly housing projects. Must show familiarity with building code analysis for a variety of project types. Must be comfortable with remote work using the Google Suite, Bluebeam Studio, Autodesk BIM360 and other online collaboration tools. Background in renovations, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, or constrained‑site urban infill. Preferred Interest in housing policy. Ability to attend construction observation site visits throughout the Bay Area, particularly in the South Bay/San Jose area. Compensation & Benefits Flexible hybrid work arrangement.
