Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Boise, Idaho - offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about. Available hourly pay: $26.00 per hour. Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700. Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year). Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday. Hours: First shift Tuesday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred). Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work). Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred). Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred). Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire. Pass a Ryder drug test. Pass a DOT physical. Pass a Ryder road test. Pass a Ryder background and motor-vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties. Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs. Conduct preventive maintenance. Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable. Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required. Replace defective components as instructed. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned. Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
