IT Project Manager
$50 - $75 per hourJob Description
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced IT professional to lead technology, infrastructure, and clinical expansion projects across multiple healthcare facilities on Long Island. You will be based primarily onsite at a Suffolk Hospital location and will coordinate closely with cross‑functional teams to plan, manage, and deliver a range of technical and clinical build‑out initiatives. The position suits someone with a background in networking, telecommunications, desktop support, cabling, or related IT infrastructure who is looking to grow further within a structured project management function, directly supporting initiatives that impact patient care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple concurrent technology and infrastructure projects across Long Island healthcare facilities.
- Conduct detailed site surveys to assess infrastructure requirements, evaluate existing environments, and determine project readiness.
- Support clinical build‑outs, including new department openings, renovations, and associated technology deployments.
- Partner with technical teams to oversee implementations involving SCCM, networking upgrades, desktop deployments, and structured cabling.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, documentation, and status reports for all assigned projects.
- Use Microsoft Office applications and Power BI to prepare reports, perform data analysis, and create dashboards for project tracking and communication.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clinicians, IT teams, external vendors, and leadership to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.
- Ensure all projects adhere to organisational standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
- Provide onsite project support at various Long Island locations as required, including coordination during construction and implementation phases.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to manage budgets, monitor progress, and address risks or issues affecting project delivery.
- Document project findings, decisions, and outcomes thoroughly, particularly within Microsoft Excel and other project documentation tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and documentation standards within the technology and clinical build‑out environment.
- Professional experience in at least one of the following technical areas: telecommunications (TCOM), networking, desktop or end‑user support, or cabling and IT infrastructure.
- Proven experience working within a healthcare environment, particularly supporting clinical or hospital technology initiatives.
- Practical familiarity with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) for managing desktop and infrastructure deployments.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Power BI or similar reporting and visualisation tools for dashboards and budget tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to perform site surveys and document findings accurately and comprehensively.
- Solid project management skills, including the ability to create project plans, manage timelines, and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clinicians, IT staff, vendors, and leadership stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and follow‑through.
- Experience supporting clinical build‑outs or infrastructure work in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work onsite at least three days per week and travel across Long Island as needed.
- Capability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced healthcare environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical technology environment, particularly involving clinical build‑outs or hospital infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with Power BI for developing dashboards and monitoring budgets.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Intune for device and endpoint management.
- Exposure to construction‑related IT projects, including coordination of cabling, infrastructure, and technology fit‑outs.
- Experience with documentation and reporting in Microsoft Excel, including tracking project plans, budgets, and progress.
- Stakeholder management experience, including coordination with cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
- Formal project management experience, including ownership of project plans, risk management, and implementation activities.
- Project management certification such as PMP, CAPM, or similar is desirable but not essential.
- background in IT disciplines such as desktop support, networking, telecommunications, or infrastructure implementation.
You will join a respected healthcare system where technology plays a critical role in supporting patient care and clinical operations. The organisation offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while developing your skills across project management, infrastructure, and clinical technology. There is potential to transition into a permanent role or to continue as a consultant on a variety of evolving projects, providing both stability and variety in your career. You will work with collaborative, cross‑functional teams in an environment that values professionalism, continuous improvement, and the meaningful application of technology in healthcare.
Work Environment
The role is based primarily onsite at a Suffolk Hospital location within a fast‑paced healthcare environment, with travel required to other Long Island facilities as projects demand. You will work closely with clinical staff, IT teams, and construction and infrastructure partners, often in active clinical and construction areas where coordination and clear communication are essential. The environment involves hands‑on engagement with technologies such as SCCM, Microsoft Intune, Power BI, and the wider Microsoft Office Suite, as well as networking, desktop, and structured cabling infrastructure.
