Thank you, very much, for stopping by to take a look at the Linux Administrator role I posted here on LinkedIN, I appreciate it quite a bit.

Allow me to introduce myself a bit. My name is Tom Welke. I am Partner and VP here at RSM Solutions, Inc. So, I am a real live breathing human putting this JD together...no bots. I realized, a while back, that most JD's go to great lengths to not really say anything. Due to this, I like to write my own to - hopefully - clarify what is really needed.

Before we go further, a couple things with regards to this role:

1. This role is being done onsite Monday through Friday in Irvine, California.
2. I am not working with external vendors on this role. So, please do not send me 100 emails saying you have 'a great candidate'. I am not working with external vendors.
3. This role is permanent and fully benefitted.
4. The client for this role cannot provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future. As a result, I’m only able to work with candidates who have permanent authorization to work in the U.S. and will never require sponsorship (typically U.S. citizens or Green Card holders). With that in mind, I cannot work with candidates that need employer sponsorship at any point in the future (so, I won't be able to work with EAD, STEM, OPT, or other time-limited work authorization visa holders)

As with just about any role I work on, social fit is incredibly important. Here are some of those key social fit characteristics we are seeking for this role:

• This is the kind of org where when there is a fire, everyone grabs a hose. So, that individual that digs into issues when they come up is what we are seeking.
• This place is not full of individuals with giant egos. So, if you believe you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and your opinion is the only one that matters, go back to being a 'social media influencer', because we wont have a fit for this role.
• Are you the kind of person that liked putting together puzzles as a kid? Or, perhaps your hobby is to put together Star Wars models? Well...that is precisely what we are looking for here. That person that likes to 'figure it out', in other words, will work well here.

Here is what we are seeking for this role.

We are seeking that Linux Administrator who doesn't just 'take the script' and runs with that. Rather, we are looking for that person that really will own that process of that build / config & deploy process. So, yep, you will be working with Kubernetes & Ansible, as you might have expected. In addition, a solid Windows Admin / Sys Admin background would be particularly helpful in this role. So, that understanding of how a Windows OS works, AD, Exchange and all that jazz would be great to see.

Some of the key things you will be doing in the first 90 days of this role are:

• updating & managing the entire updating process and deploy environment
• general deployments, baselining with Ansible, and updating through Ansible
• fine tuining gaps in that build / config & deployment process
• perform monitoring, maintenance, installation, upgrades, and end-user support on Windows Domain servers and related hardware & software infrastructure across multiple sites

Here are some of those key essential responsibilities for this role:

• Support Linux workloads running on virtualized hyperconverged and cloud platforms.
• Perform account creation and maintain PAM configurations.
• Apply OS updates and security patches at both the individual server level and cluster level.
• Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and media is recycled.
• Manage Office 365 tenant, assigning licenses, enabling or disabling features, troubleshooting issues and perform compliance reviews.
• Enroll and manage devices in our MDM solution.
• Create documentation supporting administrative duties assigned in a centralized and shared location.
• Undertake project work – installing new Windows and Linux based systems, servers and services for specific uses and purposes.

Here is what we are seeking in terms of experience:

• At least 5 years of System Administration experience. Breadth of experience is really important to this role. So, if you have been the only Sys Admin in a role, that would be great to see. This should include experience with, M365, Windows Group Policy, AD, Exchange, etc...
• At least 4 years of Linux OS experience and Linux Administration experience.
• Experience with Delegation and Security Group strategies in support of least privilege access control and auditing policies.
• Experience with DHCP, File and Storage, Print and Document, Remote Desktop, Volume Activation, Web Server, and Windows.
• Experience with owning that build & deploy process. This should include experience with Kubernetes & Ansible.
