Job Summary
The offshore Landman researches property ownership, negotiates leases and agreements, secures mineral rights, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role requires strong negotiation, research, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Research land ownership, mineral rights, and title records.
- Negotiate oil and gas leases, rights-of-way, easements, and surface use agreements with landowners.
- Acquire mineral and surface rights necessary for exploration and production activities.
- Prepare, review, and maintain lease agreements, contracts, and legal documentation.
- Coordinate with attorneys, surveyors, title examiners, engineers, and government agencies.
- Resolve title defects and ownership issues affecting property transactions.
- Monitor lease obligations, rental payments, royalty provisions, and expiration dates.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to land acquisition.
- Maintain accurate land records and databases.
- Support drilling, production, and development projects by securing timely land access.
- Represent the company professionally in meetings with landowners and community stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, Legal Studies, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in land acquisition, title research, or oil and gas operations.
- Knowledge of oil and gas leasing, mineral ownership, and property law.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and land management software.
- Ability to travel frequently to project sites and meet with landowners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from the American Association of Professional Landmen (e.g., Registered Professional Landman (RPL) or Certified Professional Landman (CPL)).
- Experience with title examination and courthouse research.
- Familiarity with GIS and land management systems.
- Knowledge of pipeline, renewable energy, or right-of-way projects.
