Machine Operator I – Machining & Quality Control

Reports To: Floor Manager

Employment Type: Non-Exempt

Department: Production

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator I to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring machining equipment, inspecting finished and in-process parts for quality, accurately recording production information, and helping maintain a safe and efficient production environment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, can follow detailed work instructions, and has strong attention to detail. This position requires the ability to read blueprints or sketches, properly use measuring instruments and production tools, maintain accurate piece counts and production records, and perform routine machine and tool maintenance.

The Machine Operator I will work closely with the Floor Manager and production team to maintain consistent production while meeting established quality and production standards.

• Operate assigned machinery and equipment according to established procedures and job instructions.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to properly set up and process parts.
• Select and use the correct tooling, components, and materials for each job.
• Maintain consistent production levels while meeting or exceeding established production standards.
• Accurately identify parts and materials throughout the manufacturing process.
• Maintain accurate piece counts and production records as required.
• Monitor material levels and report low stock or material shortages to the supervisor.
• Perform other production tasks as needed to maintain workflow and production schedules.
• Adapt to process changes and learn new equipment, procedures, and skills.

• Perform quality-control inspections on machined products throughout the production process.
• Verify parts meet established specifications and customer requirements.
• Identify defects, inconsistencies, or other quality concerns and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
• Properly identify and use measuring instruments and inspection tools.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, job instructions, and other production documentation.
• Maintain concentration and attention to detail to ensure consistent product quality.

• Complete required production and quality paperwork accurately and on time.
• Enter production and quality information into the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) as required.
• Accurately record piece counts, production information, maintenance activities, and other required data.
• Complete required operator maintenance documentation in the OMS (Operator Maintenance Schedule) .

• Perform routine daily and preventive maintenance on assigned machines and tools.
• Inspect equipment and tooling for issues that could affect safety, quality, or production.
• Maintain and properly store tools and measuring instruments.
• Report equipment, tooling, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation and follow good housekeeping practices.

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures for the assigned work area.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment and safety equipment.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or other safety concerns to management.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other members of the production team.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain company policies and quality standards at all times.

• Previous manufacturing, machine operation, production, or quality inspection experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, job instructions, and written/verbal directions.
• Ability to properly identify parts, components, tools, and measuring instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter information into an MES or similar production system.
• Ability to learn new machinery, processes, and production procedures.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision once properly trained.
• Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management and coworkers.

• Ability to stand for the duration of a typical production shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds .
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and concentration.
• Ability to safely operate production machinery and use hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
