Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to laboring patients in a high-volume obstetric unit. Ensure patient safety, comfort, and support during childbirth, adhering to hospital policies and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor patient care during labor and delivery, supporting patient choices and promoting vaginal birth opportunities.
• Support the midwives, CRNA, and OB team in performing procedures such as IUPC, FSE, MgSO4, and managing postpartum hemorrhage.
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately using CPN and Meditech systems.
• Assist in the operation and troubleshooting of obstetric equipment, emphasizing fetal monitoring.
• Collaborate with the laborist team and handle patient education to enhance birth experiences and breastfeeding.
• Float to other maternity or specialty departments as needed, maintaining flexibility in tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery nursing experience.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality patient care and support for patient-centered childbirth.
• Ability to perform advanced procedures and support fetal monitoring.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with 24/7 on-call staff.
• Knowledge of obstetric equipment, documentation systems, and unit protocols.
