Quality Inspector - Welding, Fabrication & Electrical Control Panels

Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented Quality Inspector to support welding, fabrication, assembly, and electrical control panel operations. This role ensures products meet internal, customer, and industry quality standards through weld inspection, dimensional verification, workmanship evaluation, and UL‑compliant control panel inspection. The position works closely with Production and Quality teams to identify nonconformances and maintain consistent product quality.

Responsibilities:

Weld & Fabrication Inspection

• Verify weld size, profile, continuity, and workmanship.
• Support weld traceability and documentation requirements.
• Confirm adherence to welding procedures and fabrication specifications.
• Identify discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, or distortion.
• Communicate weld‑related concerns with welders, supervisors, and Quality leadership.
• Perform visual weld inspections using engineering drawings, weld symbols, and acceptance criteria.

Incoming, In‑Process & Final Inspection

• Conduct in‑process inspections during fabrication and assembly.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
• Inspect castings, machined parts, fabricated components, and purchased materials.
• Perform final inspections for dimensional accuracy, fit‑up, torque, alignment, and workmanship.
• Inspect electrical control panels in accordance with UL 508A standards, including wiring, labeling, component installation, and construction quality.

Nonconformance & Documentation

• Initiate and support NCRs and containment activities.
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
• Participate in MRB processes with inspection findings and supporting documentation.

Quality & Production Support

• Maintain organized, safe inspection work areas.
• Monitor adherence to work instructions and quality standards.
• Verify calibration status of inspection and measurement tools.
• Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Proficiency with mechanical measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Knowledge of visual weld inspection practices and weld discontinuity identification.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing inspection (welding, fabrication, or assembly)
• UL Certification or the ability/willingness to obtain UL certification for UL 508A panel inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or welding inspection training.
• Background in pump manufacturing, rotating equipment, or heavy fabrication.
• Hands‑on experience inspecting electrical control panels to UL 508A standards.
