Position Overview

\n

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Level III – Advanced Maintenance Technician to join our on-site maintenance team supporting our automated warehouse operations at the LEGO facility in Chester, Virginia.

\n

\n

In this advanced technical role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing sophisticated automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) and related material handling equipment. You will play a key role in identifying and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment failures to minimize downtime and restore system functionality.
\n
• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and approved corrective repairs on automated storage systems, conveyors, and associated equipment.
\n
• Electrical & Controls Systems: Troubleshoot industrial control systems, motor drives, electrical components, and associated automation equipment.
\n
• PLC Diagnostics: Utilize advanced PLC diagnostic tools and system monitoring software to identify faults, analyze system behavior, and support troubleshooting activities.
\n
• Industrial Networks: Diagnose communication issues involving industrial networks and fieldbus systems, coordinating with Controls Engineers when necessary.
\n
• Root Cause Analysis: Investigate recurring mechanical and electrical failures, identify underlying causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
\n
• System Optimization: Analyze equipment performance, wear patterns, and failure trends to identify opportunities for improved reliability and maintenance efficiency.
\n
• Technical Escalations: Support the resolution of complex technical issues and collaborate with Controls Engineers and other technical specialists when additional expertise is required.
\n
• Commissioning Support: Provide technical assistance during approved equipment commissioning, testing, and system optimization activities.
\n
• Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records, troubleshooting reports, and equipment documentation, including work performed and recommendations for improvement.
\n
• Safety & Compliance: Follow established safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety protocols, and site-specific safety requirements.
\n
• Team Collaboration & Mentoring: Share technical knowledge, assist with training and mentoring less-experienced technicians, and collaborate with colleagues to resolve equipment issues.
\n
• Customer Communication: Maintain professional communication with on-site LEGO representatives and internal teams regarding maintenance activities, equipment performance, and technical issues.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

\n

• Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial automated systems.
\n
• Experience working in high-performance logistics facilities or similarly complex automated industrial environments.
\n
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
\n
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities involving industrial control systems, motor drives, and automation equipment.
\n
• Experience performing advanced PLC diagnostics and interpreting system fault information.
\n
• Ability to diagnose industrial network and fieldbus communication issues.
\n
• Experience performing root-cause analysis and identifying recurring equipment failure patterns.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
\n
• Working knowledge of industrial safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety.
\n
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring instruments.
\n
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize technical issues.
\n
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, colleagues, and engineering teams.
\n
• Ability to work at heights using appropriate safety equipment.
\n
• Proficiency in English.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Technical diploma or associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field.
\n
• Experience with automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), conveyor systems, robotics, or automated material handling equipment.
\n
• Familiarity with industrial automation components and systems from manufacturers such as Siemens, SEW, Lenze, or SICK.
\n
• PLC or industrial automation certifications, including Siemens or Allen-Bradley.
\n
• Electrical or industrial maintenance technician certifications.
\n
• OSHA safety certification or equivalent.
\n
• First Aid/CPR certification.
\n
• Previous experience providing on-site technical support in a customer-facing environment.
\n
• Spanish and/or German language skills are a plus.
\n
