Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills - Gastrointestinal case skills Description: Position/Specialty: Med Surg Neuro RN Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 Nights (1800-0630) Average Daily Census: 32 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend First-timers accepted: No On-call Requirement: No Floating: Will float as needed to meet facility needs Restricted Time Off: Ideally no more than 5 days Special Requirements: - Required work setting experience: Med/Surg - Required skills/experience: Telemetry - remote monitoring, use of rapid response teams - Required gastrointestinal case skills/experience: Colostomy care, feeding tube care and management - Required IV therapy/phlebotomy skills/experience: Accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs - Required medication experience: Heparin, insulin, PCA - Required neurological/psychiatric case skills/experience: CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury - Required respiratory case skills/experience: Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, pre/post thoracic surgery, tracheostomy management - Required professional knowledge and skills: Isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, continuous bladder irrigation experience - Cerner experience required - Teaching hospital experience preferred - Trauma Level II experience preferred Facility Highlights: Type of Facility: Acute care hospital Total Staffed Beds: 372 Charting: Cerner Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics Daily Census: 32 Additional Unit Information: Interdisciplinary support: IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretary Patient diagnoses: Neuro Patient ratios: Nights 6-7 patients per nurse
