Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Supervisor oversees the site’s Quality Assurance team and programs within a manufacturing facility that produces high-quality aseptic products. This role ensures that product quality, food safety, and sanitation consistently meet company standards and regulatory requirements. You will lead QA personnel, manage quality systems, and partner closely with production and maintenance teams to maintain compliance, drive continuous improvement, and support a strong culture of quality and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with FDA, USDA, and SQF/GFSI standards across all production operations.

  • Monitor production processes to verify adherence to established quality specifications and customer requirements.

  • Oversee HACCP, GMP, and sanitation programs to maintain food safety and product integrity.

  • Conduct routine quality audits and inspections on the production floor and follow up on findings.

  • Supervise and coach a team of QA technicians and laboratory personnel, providing clear direction and support.

  • Manage QA staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts and operations.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for QA team members.

  • Train employees on quality procedures, food safety programs, and regulatory compliance standards.

  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.

  • Review and approve batch records, production documentation, and laboratory test results to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal quality issues, documenting findings and outcomes.

  • Develop, implement, and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and other departments to resolve quality and process issues.

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality documentation in support of internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.

  • Ensure full traceability of raw materials and finished goods through proper records and systems.

  • Update and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality policies as needed to reflect current practices and requirements.

  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and determine root causes of recurring issues.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

  • Partner with operations to reduce waste, defects, and rework through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5+ years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.

  • 1–2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in a QA or production setting.

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and their application in food or aseptic manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Experience with SQF, BRC, or GFSI-certified quality management systems.

  • Working knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations relevant to food or aseptic products.

  • Hands-on experience with quality systems, audits, and documentation management.

  • Proven supervisory and people management skills, including scheduling and performance management.

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to influence cross-functional teams.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills in a production environment.

  • Ability to perform data analysis and use findings to drive continuous improvement.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in manufacturing, food production, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments.

  • Experience leading or supervising a QA team or similar technical team within a plant environment.

  • Production planning exposure or understanding of how QA integrates with production scheduling.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and operations leadership.

  • Familiarity with implementing and sustaining CAPA processes and root cause analysis methodologies.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing and production floor within a food or consumer packaged goods environment focused on aseptic products. The standard shift runs from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., typically structured as a nine-hour day, with occasional Saturday work as needed. You will oversee a team of about six QA professionals. The facility includes temperature-controlled areas, so you may work in both hot and cold conditions depending on the process or area. The position may require off-shift work, weekend coverage, or overtime during peak production periods or critical projects. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods while performing floor audits, inspections, and real-time quality checks in an active production setting.

The pay range for this position is $76000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
