Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 19 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years Neuro experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Must have Neuro experience, or the unit will not accept the candidate. Must be able to adhere to the call-off policy. Must have teamwork skills and meet behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. Must be able to titrate LEVO. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in ICU, specifically in a neuro intermediate care unit. The unit primarily manages intermediate populations specialized in neurological patients along with medical intermediate patients. The average daily census is expected to max at 24 patients with a patient ratio of 1:4. Travelers are required to work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks. This unit will not accept first-time travelers, and local candidates are accepted with a rate difference. Candidates must have a variety of required skills, including neuro stepdown, telemetry, IV therapy, cardiovascular management, and neurological/psychiatric care. Knowledge of interpreting dysrhythmias, managing dysrhythmias, and various gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and respiratory care tasks is essential. Candidates must also demonstrate skills in medication management, wound care, and isolation precautions. There will be no call requirement, but candidates may float to other intermediate areas as needed. Candidates should also be prepared to manage a variety of medical technologies and patient care needs. Additional preferred skills include charge nurse experience, triage skills, and access/managing ports. High-level teamwork and communication skills are critical in this role.
