Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Acute Care Physical Therapist for a 13-week inpatient hospital assignment. Candidates must have recent acute care hospital experience and strong orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, and geriatric rehabilitation skills. This is a clinically screened position requiring manager interview and Epic EMR experience. Travelers should be comfortable treating medically complex hospitalized patients, including possible COVID-positive patients.


Responsibilities:
• Evaluate and treat acute care inpatients with orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, and geriatric conditions
• Develop individualized treatment plans, long-term goals, and home exercise programs
• Perform patient assessments including ROM, strength testing, pain assessments, sensory response, skin integrity, gait, balance, and mobility evaluations
• Provide post-operative rehabilitation for joint replacements, spinal surgeries, fractures, and orthopedic injuries
• Assist patients with gait training, transfers, ambulation, assistive devices, and mobility progression
• Educate patients and families regarding safety, injury prevention, home exercises, and discharge recommendations
• Monitor vital signs and patient response during therapy sessions
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in Epic EMR
• Maintain compliance with Medicare A/B documentation standards and facility protocols


Key Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years recent Acute Care PT experience required
• Acute care hospital experience REQUIRED
• Epic EMR experience REQUIRED
• Active Pennsylvania PT license or Compact PT license required
• Manager interview required
• Candidate will undergo clinical prescreening prior to manager review
• Maximum RTO allowed: 7 days
• Travelers expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays if needed
• Must be comfortable treating COVID-positive patients
• Tobacco-free and fragrance-free facility - traveler must comply with facility policy


Qualifications


Education:
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
• Doctorate or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy preferred per facility standards


Experience:
• Minimum 2 years recent Acute Care Physical Therapy experience required
• Experience treating orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, and geriatric patients required
• Inpatient hospital rehabilitation experience required
• Experience with post-stroke rehab, COPD, CHF, MI, dementia/Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and post-op orthopedic recovery preferred


License:
• Active Pennsylvania Physical Therapist license required OR Compact PT Licensure
• BLS certification required
