Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Less than 1 year of experience in direct patient care License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Must-Have: Ability to read, write, and speak English; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to function in a fast-paced environment; excellent time management skills; strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice framework is supported through a shared governance model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the nursing process in the performance of clinical care using evidence-based practice. Uses analytical and critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for communication. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Participates and supports performance improvement activities, research, and utilization to promote safe, quality patient care. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education. Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce. Promotes evidence-based practice and performance improvement in nursing. Participates in data collection and poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence-based practice. Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum in the course of giving direct patient care. Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
