Job Description

Starting salary to commence at $50,865 except in extenuating circumstances.

General Statement of Job

Provides electrical service and maintenance for all City facilities.

City Expectations:

Certain essential city services are required to be maintained in any civil emergency. Depending upon the type of emergency, any and all employees may be activated as essential employees in the event of an emergency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

1. Maintains and performs City wide electrical service including street lights and traffic control systems.

2. Performs maintenance for all City facilities including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.

3. Reads and interprets blueprints or drawings pertaining to assigned projects.

4. Accurately and legibly completes and maintains work orders and other required documentation.

5. Safely and efficiently drives and operates city vehicles as required. Transports supplies, tools, or other material to and from job site.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work assignments following established job standards and safety practices. Maintains all tools and equipment in safe and working conditions at all times. Responsible in work to the Maintenance Foreman or designee.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education and Training

Level I (Grade 126)

High school graduate or equivalent with three (3) years general maintenance and electrical experience. Must possess a valid Florida class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes endorsement and free of any serious violations or ability to obtain an instate CDL license within thirty (30) days from date of hire.

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

Skill Requirements:

Ability to repair, analyze and problem solve any assignment. Knowledge of OSHA and National Electrical Code requirements. Competent in facilities maintenance. Ability to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance. Ability to communicate effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions, blueprints and drawings. Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions and capable of safely operating motorized/hand tools or equipment used to complete tasks. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather and for prolonged periods of time. Must have good eyesight and hearing with or without aides. Must possess excellent hand and eye coordination. Reasonable accommodation will be considered for individuals with physical disabilities.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:

Level I (Grade 126)

Work is performed either indoors or outdoors in all kinds of weather. May also work in roadways where vehicle traffic hazards exist.

It is understood that every incidental duty connected with operations enumerated in the job description is not always specifically described, and employees, at the discretion of the City, may be required to perform duties not within their job descriptions.
