Job Title: Specialized Critical Care (ICU, PCU, SICU) RN Location: Miami VA Healthcare System (including 7 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics) Period of Performance: 08/12/2025 – 08/11/2030 Shift Schedule: Twelve (12) hour shifts 7:30-8:00; day shift vs night shift Position Description The Critical Care RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive, high‑acuity care to critically ill patients in a complex and dynamic environment. This position oversees patients in three ICU units comprising 36 beds that support medical, surgical, and cardiac critical care, as well as stepdown acuity levels. ICU RNs are essential in providing continuous electronic cardiac monitoring and advanced interventions to stabilize and manage patients with life‑threatening conditions, including those requiring isolation. Primary Responsibilities Provide patient‑centered care in three separate ICU units (36 beds total) for surgical, medical, and cardiac patients. Perform arterial line, hemodynamic, and central line monitoring, mechanical ventilation, ECG monitoring and interpretation, gastric lavage, pulse oximetry, pacemaker monitoring, and administration of vasoactive IV medications. Administer thrombolytic therapy, elective cardioversion, hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Intra‑Atrial Balloon Pump (IABP), Swan‑Ganz catheter monitoring, and post‑anesthesia recovery as needed. Monitor and manage patients in continuous electronic cardiac monitoring, including COVID‑positive and other isolation cases. Minimum Qualifications BLS and ACLS certifications accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA). Unrestricted license to practice nursing in one of the States, Territories, or Commonwealths of the United States or the District of Columbia. Minimum of three (3) years of current ICU nursing experience. Education: ASN accepted; BSN preferred. Education must be completed at a school accredited by the ACEN or CCNE.
