Technical Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Sales Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth through direct customer engagement, technical solution development, and ownership of the sales process from initial discovery through order close. This role serves as DCM's technical authority in customer-facing sales conversations and is accountable for converting qualified prospects into customers through application-driven solutions.

This position operates primarily in the field and owns assigned territories or accounts, combining deep technical expertise with commercial responsibility in DCM's Direct-to-Customer model.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Own the end-to-end sales process for assigned territories or accounts, from lead qualification through order close.
• Conduct in-depth customer discovery to identify application requirements, technical challenges, and purchasing drivers.
• Develop and propose technical solutions, including machine selection, process development, tooling, and automation recommendations.
• Lead customer demonstrations, site visits, and technical presentations to advance sales opportunities.
• Establish pricing recommendations and negotiate within approved guidelines to close orders.
• Forecast sales activity and pipeline performance; provide regular updates to leadership.
• Travel extensively to customer sites, tradeshows, and industry events to generate and close business.
• Serve as the primary customer owner through the sales cycle, coordinating internally to ensure successful handoff to engineering, manufacturing, and service teams.
• Gather market and customer intelligence to influence product strategy and commercial priorities.
• Represent DCM as a trusted technical and commercial partner in the marketplace.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or applications engineering within industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field preferred.
• Proven ability to close complex, application-driven equipment sales.
• Strong business judgment, negotiation skills, and commercial acumen.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage a territory or book of business.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Combination of office, shop-floor, trade show and customer-site work.
• Ability to stand, bend, and work around machinery as needed.
• Use of standard personal protective equipment when required.
