Position Summary

Ross Marine is seeking a reliable and organized Marine Parts Assistant to support the daily

operations of our parts department. This role assists with ordering, inventory management,

customer sales, stocking, receiving, shipping, and occasional local parts pickup.

The Marine Parts Assistant plays an important role in ensuring our service technicians and

customers have the correct marine parts and accessories available when needed. The ideal

candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has an interest in boating and marine equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Parts Ordering

 Assist with ordering marine parts, accessories, and shop supplies from manufacturers and

distributors.

 Monitor inventory levels and help maintain proper stock quantities.

 Track orders and follow up on backorders with suppliers.

Inventory Management

 Maintain accurate inventory records within the dealership management system.

 Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits.

 Identify low-stock, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory items.

Customer Sales Support

 Assist customers and service technicians in identifying the correct marine parts and

accessories.

 Provide product information, availability, and pricing.

 Process parts sales transactions and prepare parts for service work orders.

Receiving Stocking

 Receive incoming shipments and verify items against packing slips.

 Inspect parts for damage or discrepancies.

 Label, organize, and stock parts in designated storage areas.

Shipping

 Package and prepare outgoing shipments.

 Coordinate with carriers and process shipping documentation.

 Assist with returns, warranty parts, and vendor returns.

Local Parts Pickup

 Pick up parts and supplies from local vendors when needed.

 Maintain safe and professional driving practices while operating company vehicles.

Department Organization

 Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts department.

 Organize shelves, bins, and storage areas for efficient part location.

 Stage parts for service technicians as needed.

Qualifications

Education Experience

 High school diploma or equivalent required.

 Previous experience in a parts department, warehouse, or retail environment preferred.

Skills Requirements

 Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.

 Good communication and customer service abilities.

 Basic computer skills for inventory and sales systems.

 Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 Ability to lift and move boxes and parts up to approximately 50 lbs.

 Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required for occasional local parts

pickup.

Preferred Knowledge

 Knowledge of boat parts and marine accessories.

 Boating experience or familiarity with marine equipment.

 Knowledge of outboard engine components, including Mercury and

Yamaha products.

 Experience working in a marine dealership, boatyard, or marine service

environment is a plus.

Work Environment

This role involves a mix of customer service at the parts counter, warehouse work, and

collaboration with the service department in a marine dealership environment.
