Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to ensure a consistent, cost-effective, and reliable supply of materials, components, and services that meet company quality and operational requirements. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and develops purchasing strategies that support production, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. The Purchasing Manager works closely with engineering, production, finance, and logistics teams to align purchasing objectives with company goals and ensure uninterrupted material flow to support manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Procurement & Supply Chain Management Manage the day-to-day purchasing operations, ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, components, and services. Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and supply stability. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and vendors. Maintain optimal inventory levels in coordination with production planning and logistics. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and service; initiate corrective actions when necessary. Identify and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the supply base and mitigate risks. Oversee purchase orders, requisitions, and approvals in compliance with company policies. Strategic Planning & Cost Control Develop and monitor annual purchasing budgets and cost-saving targets. Analyze market trends, material costs, and supply chain disruptions to anticipate and mitigate risks. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and lead-time optimization. Collaborate with global purchasing teams to leverage global sourcing opportunities. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with Engineering to support new product development (NPD) projects and ensure material readiness. Partner with Operations and Production teams to align purchasing activities with production schedules. Support Finance with accurate cost forecasting, vendor invoices, and reconciliation. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address supplier nonconformities and ensure compliance with specifications. Compliance & Data Management Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical sourcing practices, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate supplier data, pricing records, and contract documentation. Utilize ERP/MRP systems for purchase order tracking, reporting, and inventory management. Generate regular procurement performance reports and present to senior management. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CPIM) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management capacity. Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills. Solid understanding of manufacturing materials (metals, copper, aluminum, fasteners, packaging, etc.). Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and data analytics tools. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and inventory optimization concepts preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr A.T. STAFFING
