Location: Ashland, VA
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour , based on experience
Schedule: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift

Job Description

We are looking for dependable Forklift Operators to work in a busy warehouse and distribution environment in Ashland, VA. The type of forklift and daily responsibilities will depend on the assignment.

Candidates may operate sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, or cherry pickers/order pickers to move, stage, load, unload, and store products and materials. Some positions may require experience on a specific type of forklift, while others may involve operating multiple types of equipment.

The right candidate should have safe operating habits, reliable attendance, and the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

Depending on the assignment, duties may include:

• Safely operate sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and cherry pickers/order pickers .
• Load and unload trucks and trailers.
• Move, stage, and organize pallets, materials, and finished products.
• Put products away in designated warehouse locations.
• Retrieve materials and products from racks and storage areas.
• Pick and stage orders for shipment.
• Assist with shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
• Inspect pallets, products, and loads for damage before moving them.
• Complete required forklift and equipment inspections.
• Follow warehouse traffic patterns and safety procedures.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Help with general warehouse and material handling duties when needed.
• Communicate with supervisors and coworkers to keep products and materials moving efficiently.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Forklift Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

• Sit-down forklift
• Reach truck
• Cherry picker/order picker
• Electric or propane-powered forklifts, depending on the assignment

Specific equipment experience will vary by position and will be discussed during the hiring process.

Schedule

Schedules may be available on:

• 1st shift
• 2nd shift
• 3rd shift

Specific start and end times will depend on the assignment. Candidates should be comfortable working the shift associated with the position.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift operator or warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience operating a sit-down forklift, reach truck, or cherry picker is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail when handling products and inventory.
• Willingness to perform general warehouse and material handling duties when needed.
• Ability to follow all workplace safety requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods depending on the equipment.
• Ability to walk throughout the warehouse or distribution area.
• Ability to bend, reach, and stoop as needed.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials as required by the position.
• Ability to safely work around forklifts, pallets, machinery, and other warehouse equipment.
• Ability to work in areas with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Pay & Opportunities

Pay ranges from $18.00–$20.00 per hour , based on experience and the specific position.
