Food Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated Food Technologist or Laboratory Technician to support ingredient applications and functionality evaluations in our innovative food and beverage products.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the development of new ingredient technology for food and beverage products.
• Conduct bench top and pilot plant trials to optimize formulation and processes.
• Perform functional evaluations of new ingredients and record results.
• Perform sensory testing of prototypes and coordinate expert panel sensory tests.
• Perform shelf-life and stability evaluations.
• Coordinate team evaluations on a regular basis.
• Submit prototypes for analytical testing and compile results.
• Communicate with suppliers for ingredient requests and information.
• Write progress reports.
• Maintain and organize laboratory and supplies.

Essential Skills

• B.S. in Food Science.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in ingredient applications and food or beverage formulation.
• Ability to provide sensory descriptions of foods and beverages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good record-keeping and organization skills.
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with flavors and taste is preferred.
• Research and development experience in food product development.

Work Environment

The role is based in our R&D Innovation Center in Glenview, working 40 hours per week from 8:00am to 5:00pm CST. The position involves supporting technical platforms and assisting with various ingredient technology development work streams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
