Traffic Systems Specialist II: B19 - $4,020.33-$6,335.66/monthly. This position is for Traffic Systems Specialist I or II, depending on business need and applicant's qualifications and experience. Work involves technical expertise in developing, installing, testing, programming and repairing of electrical/electronic devices/systems. Work may require working in heavy traffic and may require extensive statewide travel. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties: Traffic Systems Specialist I Drives/operates a bucket truck to install and repair electronic traffic control devices at various heights. Monitors work sites under varying conditions of light and weather and ensures that traffic control measures are operating effectively Responds to emergency situations to assist with repair and maintenance of traffic signals, systems, lighting or traffic data collection equipment. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Traffic Systems Specialist II: in addition to the above duties: Coordinates preventive maintenance on equipment. Coordinates materials and equipment usage with district maintenance offices. Identifies, troubleshoots and problem solves possible new site characteristics. Operates and maintains complex electronic test equipment to repair and test electronic traffic systems.Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: Traffic Systems Specialist I 2 years experience in construction, electronic troubleshooting, electrical construction/installation, electromechanical, traffic management, transportation engineering, design, traffic systems maintenance. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Traffic Systems Specialist I 3 years experience in construction, electronic troubleshooting, electrical construction/installation, electromechanical, traffic management, transportation engineering, design, traffic systems maintenance. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Licenses and Certifications: · Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. · Traffic Systems Spec I: Must obtained a CDL "A" License with "N" endorsement, within 90 calendar days from date of employment. · Traffic Systems Spec II: Must hold a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at hire and obtain the "N" endorsement within 90 days of employment.
