Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our team for night or day shifts. This position is open to first-time travelers and involves floating between various units as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care and the ability to adapt to different environments.

Shift Details

• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (18:00 - 06:30)
• Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (06:00 - 18:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency care to patients of all age groups.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to various units based on individual skill sets and facility needs.
• Perform necessary procedures as outlined by hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the Epic charting system.

Patient Care Details

• Typical patient diagnoses encountered in an emergency department setting.
• Daily census: approximately 80 patients.
• Unit size: 20 beds.
• Certified stroke center with access to interpretation services.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in an emergency department.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
• Experience in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
• Proficiency in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and ventilator care.

Work Requirements

• Weekend shifts required; no more than every other weekend.
• On-call is not required.
• Commitment to work during three of five major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
• Transportation necessary for assignments across multiple facilities.

Travel Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to nearby sister facilities based on operational needs. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment.

Additional Information

Orientation hours will be provided, and facilities will give as much notice as possible when requesting staff to float to other units. The facility does not charge for parking, and scrub color is flexible, with specific colors provided for certain units (e.g., OR/Critical Care/ED/Maternal Child).
