Role Description The Director of Nurses is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Mesquitre, TX, responsible for overseeing all nursing operations and ensuring high standards of clinical care. This role includes managing nursing staff schedules, supervising daily patient care activities, and ensuring that care plans are implemented safely and effectively. The Director of Nurses will develop, update, and enforce clinical policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements. They will mentor and evaluate nursing team members, coordinate staff education and training, and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement. The role also involves collaborating with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to support coordinated, person-centered hospice and healthcare services, while managing documentation, audits, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas, in good standing, with a strong clinical background in hospice, home health, palliative care, or acute care.
• Proven leadership and management experience, including supervising nursing teams, coordinating staffing, and supporting performance development.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing best practices, infection control standards, and applicable state, federal, and accreditation regulations.
• Strong skills in care coordination, interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), clinical documentation, and basic office software to support compliance and reporting.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
• Ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care and to support patients and families facing serious illness and end-of-life decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; advanced certifications in hospice and palliative nursing or nursing administration are a plus.
