Radiology Technologist II - Full Time, Rotating shifts (08HR)

Overview Under general supervision, performs various simple to complex radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated portions of the body. Duties include transfer of images, archiving and performing of appropriate imaging protocols which meet the department’s standards of quality. Works as an independent technologist and in a variety of diagnostic areas with knowledge of emergency and after‑hours procedures. May supervise technical and ancillary personnel in assigned work areas/shift in the absence of Lead Technologist and/or supervisor. Location Stanford Health Care Responsibilities Act as Lead or Supervisor in the absence of Lead Technologist, directing patient flow, ensuring resources are matched to tasks, troubleshooting equipment difficulties and filing service calls. Assist the radiologist during procedures when needed. Ensure proper darkroom techniques, including verification of sub‑optimal film processing and equipment malfunction. Follow established radiation safety guidelines (ALARA). Operate a variety of imaging and fluoroscopic equipment to perform a range of examinations. Use proper body mechanics for patient safety during movement or transfer. Participate in orientation and training of assigned staff, students and residents. Prepare patients for exams, including identification, procedure explanation, confirmation of patient ID and checking order correctness. Prepare room and equipment. Troubleshoot equipment failures and report problems to the appropriate individual. Qualifications One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. License/Certification: ARRT‑RTR (Reg Tech‑Radiography), ARRT, BLS (Basic Life Support), CRT and RTF (Rad Tech Fluoroscopy). Communication skills – effective oral and written communication and relationship building with diverse groups across all levels. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to perform complex diagnostic imaging procedures. Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures meeting department standards. Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to troubleshoot, document and communicate equipment problems. Teamwork and collaboration skills. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, congenital/acquired pathology, imaging processes, fluoroscopic techniques, patient positioning, image processing, radiation production, positioning and safety. Computer systems and software proficiency in the functional area. Compensation Generally starting at $73.34 – $82.58 per hour. Hourly rate set based on factors such as equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
