Community Living Support Specialist - POTENTIAL TO BECOME FULL-TIME

Job Description Job Summary: The CLS works to integrate participants into the community by teaching them skills to enhance their day-to-day life. This position reports to the CLS/Respite Coordinator. Duties/Responsibilities: Provides toileting and hygiene assistance to the participants while in the community. Provides documentation to details the participants time in the community. Provides supervision and guidance while under their care. Assist in providing regularly scheduled activities in the community that are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, build positive social behavior and interpersonal competence, and foster greater independence and personal choice. Regular attendance at program meetings to discuss plans and developments affecting program area. Must complete required training for administration of participant medications (when applicable). Must be able to assist participants in need of assistance with their personal care and other daily living activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Exercises a high degree of patience and empathy. Good interpersonal skills. Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required if under 21 required. One year’s experience in the field of developmental disabilities preferred. Must be able to acquire and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification. Mut possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance and a driving records that meets required standards. Physical Requirements: Alternating periods of sitting, standing and walking for up to 8 hour shifts. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. We moved into our new 36,000-square-foot Intergenerational Life Center in October 2023, and are now weaving children and seniors into our family, beginning with before- and after-school programs and seniors in 2024, and 105 children of all abilities, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, when our previous 8,000-square-foot building is renovated into a Child Enrichment Center by spring 2025.
