JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for protecting employees, visitors, premises, and assets in the case of an incident. Work involves regular patrolling and monitoring activities on the company’s premises to discourage suspects and ensure the environment is safe and secure.Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The essential functions in this job description are intended only as an illustration of the various types of duties that may be performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from job performance requirements if work is similar or related to the job.Patrols and monitors activities on the company’s premises regularly to discourage criminals and ensure the environment is safe and secure; reports suspicious activities to local authoritiesEscorts discharged employees, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premisesControls the gated entrances according to protocolsOperates and monitors communication and surveillance systems (CCTV, alarms, radios, etc.)Provides detailed reports to management as needed for any incidents that may occurContacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergencyMay make physical checks after business hours and weekends to ensure doors, windows, and gates are secureSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED;OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess and maintain a regular Class “E” Driver’s licenseMust possess and maintain Florida Security Class “D” licensePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Prior experience in security or a related fieldBilingual – English and SpanishKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of security procedures and patrol techniquesKnowledge of emergency response procedures, including fire, medical, and evacuation protocolsKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to safety and securityKnowledge of incident reporting and basic investigative proceduresKnowledge of, or ability to learn proper use of security equipment such as radios, alarms, CCTV systems, and access control systemsAbility to learn to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook and Excel) and applicable department and organization specific softwareSkill in using mathematics required for the workAbility to follow oral and written instructionsAbility to write clear, accurate, and timely incident reportsAbility to learn how to operate security systems and emergency equipmentAbility to learn the layout of the property and buildingsAbility to patrol the property and access areas quicklyAbility to remain calm and make sound decisions under stressful or emergency situationsAbility to observe, assess, and accurately report suspicious activityAbility to clearly communicate and understand information in English, orally and in writingAbility to follow public safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe mannerAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgroundsAbility to maintain regular attendance to ensure efficient and effective performance of job dutiesAMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) REQUIREMENTS:Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds).
