Case Management Supervisor (Human Services Coordinator II) - New Bedford

Position The Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the New Bedford Site Office are seeking an Adult Case Management Supervisor (Human Services Coordinator II). The role provides direct supervision to staff who serve adults in community or hospital settings, acts as contract monitor for various vendor contracts, and oversees the site’s high‑risk population and resident databases. Schedule and Location Full‑time, 40 hours per week. 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Days off: Saturday and Sunday. Location: 888 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and provide regular case supervision and consultation to Human Services Coordinator I staff. Assist with inter‑agency coordination, referrals, and problem resolution. Help staff with assessment, referral, and advocacy; provide clinical recommendations and Individual Risk Management plans. Conduct performance evaluations via EPRS reviews. Maintain computerized documentation in MHIS, monitor data entry, oversee corrections, and arrange program billing. Assist the Site Director in screening and hiring Human Service Coordinator I and II and support staff. Assign new cases to supervised staff, prioritizing client needs. Facilitate regular meetings (clinical reviews, staff meetings) to ensure high‑quality service delivery. Provide on‑the‑job training and orientation for new employees. Collaborate with the Site Director on case management processes, service authorization, and general practices. Act as contact person for service providers, in‑patient units, crisis and respite programs. Attend hospital and provider meetings; engage in problem‑solving activities (utilization reviews, crisis management, etc.). Serve as liaison with the DMH Legal Office for complex guardian cases. Perform contract‑monitoring duties as required. Required Qualifications Knowledge of clinical and social psychology and psychosocial rehabilitation principles. Familiarity with community mental health services organization and functions. Ability to gather information through questioning, observation, and document review. Willingness to travel for job‑related purposes. Current and valid Massachusetts Class D motor‑vehicle license or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Behavioral health experience. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and sensitivity. Commitment to serving diverse populations with cultural competence. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Bilingual or multilingual fluency (advantageous). Benefits Competitive salary (annual range 75,463.18 – 102,951.16).
