Senior Project Manager - MEP Construction

Position OverviewWe are seeking a results-driven Senior Project Manager specializing in MEP construction to lead medium-to-large commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems on time, within budget and to quality and safety standards. This position requires hands-on MEP/Mechanical Engineering knowledge, strong commercial project management skills, and experience across sectors such as hotels, resorts, assisted living, casinos, hospitals and colleges. The Senior Project Manager will own financial performance (P&L), forecasting and budgeting, manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure timely resolution of RFIs, submittals and change orders.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end delivery of MEP construction projects including HVAC, plumbing and piping systems from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.Manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, profit and margin optimization, and overall P&L accountability.Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate sequencing with general contractors and trades, and manage critical path activities to meet milestones.Oversee review and coordination of mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, submittals and shop drawings; drive timely RFI responses and submittal approvals.Prepare, negotiate and manage change orders, claims and contract modifications while mitigating schedule and cost impacts.Direct selection, negotiation and management of MEP subcontractors and vendors; ensure quality, safety and contract compliance.Lead construction management activities on-site, conduct regular progress meetings, perform site inspections and enforce safety and QA/QC programs.Coordinate commissioning, start-up and turnover of MEP systems; ensure systems meet performance requirements and owner expectations.Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as primary point of contact for owners, design teams and stakeholders.Mentor and develop project teams, delegate responsibilities, and promote continuous improvement in processes and project delivery.Utilize project controls systems and reporting tools to deliver accurate status reports, forecasts and executive updates.Ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulatory requirements across a variety of commercial project types including hotels, resorts, assisted living facilities, casinos, hospitals and educational institutions.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field; advanced degree preferred.10+ years of progressive MEP construction experience with a minimum of 5 years in a project management role on commercial projects (hotels, resorts, assisted living, casinos, hospitals, colleges preferred).Proven track record managing project financials including forecasting, budgeting, profit and margin improvement, and P&L responsibility.Strong technical background in HVAC, mechanical systems, plumbing, piping and related MEP disciplines; experience with mechanical engineering coordination.Hands-on experience with RFI management, submittal review, change order negotiation and construction documentation.Proficiency with scheduling and project controls software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent) and familiarity with ERP/project accounting systems.Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with owners and design professionals.Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple concurrent projects on time and on budget in a fast-paced commercial construction environment.Professional certifications such as PMP, PE (Mechanical) or LEED are a plus.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to risk management and issue resolution.Willingness to travel to project sites and maintain regular on-site presence as required; valid drivers license.BenefitsCompetitive Base Salary: $135k - $165kLucrative BonusCar Allowance/Company VehicleHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceRetirement PlanPaid Time OffPaid Holidays
