About the Role

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer who thrives on solving high-impact, complex infrastructure and automation problems. You will own critical system architecture, drive infrastructure reliability, and build at scale. Your work will directly enable millions of hourly workers to access financial freedom by ensuring our platform remains secure, performant, and highly available.

We operate at the intersection of fintech, embedded finance, and real-time payroll systems—building products that handle millions of transactions with sub-second performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, automate, and manage our cloud infrastructure using Terraform.

• Oversee the reliability, performance, and monitoring of our systems using self-hosted Grafana, Sentry, and Laravel Nightwatch.

• Manage infrastructure and specialized environments for AI, data science, and ML workloads.

• Drive security and compliance efforts, including helping with SOC2 and PCI DSS audits and implementing technical controls.

• Develop and maintain internal tools to support cross-functional teams.

• Manage AI integrations and internal AI tools.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and automation.

• Strong security mindset.

• Strong coding background; must be willing to learn/work with our PHP/Laravel stack.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases (any database experience is okay).

• Ability to manage infrastructure for AI/ML/Data Science workloads.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience handling compliance audits (e.g., SOC2, PCI DSS).

• Experience working in a fast paced startup environment.

• Ability to periodically travel for team headquarters meetings and company on-sites.

Additional Details

Location: This is a remote position based in the United States.

Compensation: The annual base salary for this role is $138,000 . The base pay for this role is determined using many factors, such as education, skills and experience and is reflective of Clair Series stage and size. Base pay is only one part of Clair’s competitive total compensation package which includes equity, benefits and additional perks. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
