Overview A leading international law firm is seeking a strategic and collaborative Practice Manager to support multiple high-performing legal practice groups. This highly visible role partners closely with Practice Group Leaders and cross-functional departments to drive operational excellence, support strategic initiatives, optimize resource management, and enhance overall practice performance. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with experience in law firm or professional services management who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Responsibilities
- Partner with Practice Group Leaders to develop and execute strategic and operational initiatives that support practice growth and performance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on practice operations, workload trends, resource planning, and business priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve attorney efficiency, matter management, staffing, and resource utilization.
- Develop internal communications and presentations that promote collaboration, engagement, and alignment across practice teams.
- Support innovation initiatives and implement process improvements that enhance client service and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor attorney workloads, matter activity, and capacity to support strategic staffing and equitable distribution of work.
- Analyze resource needs and prepare reports to support recruiting, workforce planning, and long-term growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with legal talent and practice leadership on attorney development, evaluations, mentoring, promotions, retention, and professional development initiatives.
- Prepare agendas, presentations, reports, and materials for practice group meetings and leadership discussions.
- Facilitate communication between attorneys and administrative departments to ensure efficient execution of firm initiatives.
- Partner with Finance to analyze financial performance, reporting, budgeting, and business intelligence needs.
- Work closely with Business Development teams to support client growth initiatives, strategic planning, and successful lateral integration.
- Collaborate with Legal Technology teams to identify and implement tools that improve collaboration, productivity, knowledge sharing, and matter management.
- Build strong relationships across the firm while serving as a key operational liaison between attorneys and business professionals.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or J.D. preferred.
- Experience in law firm management, legal operations, professional services management, or a comparable leadership role.
- Experience supporting legal practice groups within a law firm or professional services environment; transactional practice experience is a plus.
- Strong financial acumen with experience analyzing practice performance, resource utilization, and operational metrics.
- Demonstrated success managing complex projects, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with attorneys, firm leadership, and administrative professionals.
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High level of professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
