Learn more at About the Role The next logical step in USITT’s continued growth is to bring our information technology and systems administration in-house to better serve the needs of our staff and our members. We are seeking a motivated person who wants to get in on the ground floor and help us shape our full stack of technology services. In this role, you will help build and maintain the digital tools that power our programs, member services, and internal operations. You will work closely with senior leadership, program staff, and external vendors to deliver reliable, accessible, and user-friendly technology solutions. Salesforce is central to our operations — serving as our member management, fundraising, and constituent engagement platform — and knowledge of Salesforce-based platforms, particularly Nimble AMS, is a vital part of this role. Key Responsibilities Application Development Contribute to the development and maintenance of front-end and back-end web applications that support our programs and member-facing services Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce/Nimble AMS and our website, event platforms, email marketing tools, and additional third-party systems Ensure that APIs and other connections between financial software, Salesforce/Nimble AMS, eShow (or current conference registration vendor), LMS system, Openwater, etc, align in both read only and read-write configurations or SSO’s, depending on system requirements; develop or update APIs if/when necessary Ensure that the AMS works effectively with learning management systems used to power the Institute’s BACKstage exam and other products which may be developed Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices Explore alternative technologies/AI/software/hardware to ensure Institute is using best and most up-to-date applications including meeting with vendors and recommending upgrades or changes to existing systems to leadership Support configuration, customization, and ongoing maintenance of our Salesforce CRM (Sales Cloud / Nonprofit Success Pack / Experience Cloud), Nimble AMS, and other key systems Build and maintain Salesforce Flows, reports, dashboards, and custom objects to meet organizational needs, specifically to support sales and membership Work across departments to develop reports and dashboards to support multiple overlapping projects and planning needs Assist with data quality, data migrations, and deduplication efforts Help staff across departments with Salesforce questions and basic training and deploy Salesforce Premier Success program to all users to assist in elevating program use Determine and implement configuration requirements to ensure agreed-upon delivery of data, services, and system performance Coordinate technical requirements and implementation with other systems that integrate or are compatible with the AMS Develop and implement digital interface for Member communications; make recommendations, deploy, and maintain these digital communities in concert with organizational leadership Be accountable for the timely review of issues related to the AMS, researching the root cause of issues, and planning and completing the resolution of issues Monitor system performance to ensure alignment with standards Create, handle, and refine custom objects, fields, page layouts, record types, and Lightning components Troubleshoot Salesforce/Nimble AMS/other system issues with staff and liaison with management or external hardware vendors, if necessary Partner with education, finance, sales, and communications teams to understand their technology needs and translate them into practical solutions Support the organization’s accessibility and equity commitments by building inclusive digital experiences Support current tech stack, including Google Workspace, Adobe, Sage, Slack, Openwater, Click Up; keep current on latest releases, and assist staff in use and updating thereof Assist Engagement Team in reimagining website and/or strengthening existing website in WebFlow. Build website key integrations as necessary Become an essential voice in strategic website planning Work with Finance Department annually to complete an annual required PCI assessment to ensure that our platform (currently Authorize.net/KeyBank) manages our credit card data in compliance with industry standards Assist in onboarding new employees by providing login credentials, email addresses, etc to ensure a smooth technological transition. As necessary, work with hardware/server provider to ensure proper maintenance. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience may substitute Hands-on experience with Salesforce, including basic configuration, Salesforce Flow, or Apex (academic, internship, or volunteer projects accepted). Experience with Nimble AMS and/or HubSpot a plus Foundational experience with back-end development using Node.js, Python, PHP, or a similar language Basic understanding of consumer AI platforms (Claude, Chat GPT, Copilot, Gemini) and best practices for use/integration Familiarity with APIs/RESTful APIs and third-party system integrations Basic understanding of relational databases (SQL) and data management practices Proficiency with version control (Git) Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues is ideal Genuine commitment to the mission and values of a nonprofit organization Preferred Qualifications Salesforce Administrator or Platform Developer Salesforce certification or ability to be certified if program is not yet completed Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) or Salesforce for Nonprofits Familiarity with Salesforce Experience Cloud or Marketing Cloud Experience with Lightning Web Components (LWC) Exposure to CMS platforms (WebFlow, WordPress, Drupal, or similar) Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards Experience working in a nonprofit, association, or mission-driven environment What We Offer Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage Generous paid time off, including organizational holidays and a flexible PTO policy Hybrid or remote work flexibility Professional development and support for Salesforce certification A collaborative, inclusive team culture rooted in our organizational values The opportunity to apply your technical skills to work that genuinely matters The position may work from USITT’s National Office in Liverpool, NY or may be hybrid or remote, as determined by supervisor. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. All employees, including hybrid or remote employees, must be based in the US and employees will work within the set schedule of the National Office (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, regardless of actual location) unless other times are developed and approved in advance by the supervisor. The actual work schedule will be determined by your supervisor. If chosen, the candidate should be available to start as soon as possible. There may be mandatory travel to in-person staff gatherings or trainings several times each year. Position will also require mandatory attendance at the USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo, held in March at locations throughout the US. Travel and accommodation will be provided.
