As an Interfacility EMT, you will provide high-quality Basic Life Support (BLS) care while transporting patients with varying medical needs, working alongside nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.

Unit Details:

• Air Care & Mobile Care has provided the Greater Cincinnati area with specialized medical transport services for patients in our community for over 35 years.
• Air Care & Mobile Care is the only service in the region to be accredited in four levels of medical transport by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
• Air Care & Mobile Care specializes in caring for and transporting critically injured and sick patients, wherever they may be, by bringing the world-class care of UC Medical Center to the patient.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive, scope-appropriate patient assessments and recognizes changes in patient condition to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout interfacility transport.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care that address the patient's needs.
• Demonstrates clinical competence in the assessment, treatment, monitoring, and transport of patients with varying levels of acuity while operating within EMT scope of practice and organizational protocols.
• Performs Basic Life Support (BLS) interventions as indicated by patient condition.
• Obtains and accurately interprets vital signs and other patient assessment findings; performs approved point-of-care testing; safely administers and manages medications within EMT scope of practice and organizational protocols.
• Continuously monitors patient status during transport, promptly identifies changes in condition, and initiates appropriate interventions while communicating pertinent information to receiving facilities and medical control as necessary.
• Serves as a patient advocate by protecting patient rights, maintaining dignity, and ensuring privacy and confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Completes accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient care, transport activities, and operational records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and sound clinical judgment while maintaining effective communication with patients, families, healthcare providers, and fellow team members.
• Maintains all required licensure, certifications, competencies, and continuing education. Pursues ongoing professional development to remain current with evidence-based EMS practices and advancements in medical transport.
• Conducts all operations safely by adhering to infection prevention practices, safety policies, and vehicle operating procedures. Promptly identifies and reports safety concerns through established reporting processes.
• Ensures the safe operation, security, cleanliness, and readiness of assigned ambulances, equipment, and supplies, completing routine inspections and reporting maintenance needs promptly.
• Represents the organization with professionalism and provides exceptional customer service while supporting the mission, values, and standards of excellence in patient care.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician program required.

One year of EMT experience minimum.

Military medical/paramedicine experience considered.

Intra-facility transport experience preferred.

License & Certification:

Current Ohio EMT-B certification required; National Registry preferred.

Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or its equivalency must be obtained during the probation period.

BLS (American Heart Association) at the time of hire.

FEMA 100, 200 courses within the initial probationary period.

Active, unrestricted Driver's License with no more than 4 accrued points.
