Legal Counsel, Procurement

We are seeking a driven, experienced commercial attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment to fill the position of Legal Counsel - Procurement. You will work closely with internal business resources, procurement stakeholders, legal and other stakeholders across the enterprise to lead high value, high visibility and high impact procurement negotiations, while also ensuring all third-party agreements meet MongoDB’s contracting standards. You work both independently and as part of a team that values quality, fun and collaboration. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City, NY or Austin, TX for our hybrid working model or remotely in the United States.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary legal partner to global Procurement and advise cross-functional stakeholders on third-party contracting mattersDraft and negotiate buy-side agreements, including SaaS, software, marketing, facilities, professional services, and real estate agreementsProvide practical legal guidance on complex, high-value, and high-risk procurement transactions, including escalation and resolution of issues requiring cross-functional stakeholder input or business leadership approvalDevelop and maintain scalable procurement and legal review processesDevelop and maintain legal knowledge-management resources, including procurement playbooks, templates, and other institutional knowledge resourcesIdentify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, contract lifecycle management tools, and emerging legal and AI technology to scale procurement legal supportDevelop and deliver training and practical guidance to Procurement and business stakeholders on contracting processes, legal requirements, negotiation strategy, risk allocation, and common contractual issuesMaintain awareness of emerging legal and commercial issues affecting procurement, including developments relating to data privacy and security, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, technology contracting, and vendor risk, and incorporate relevant developments into contracting guidance and processesSupport broader Legal team priorities and initiatives as neededOur ideal candidate will have:5+ years of commercial contract experience, with a proven track record negotiating procurement agreementsExperience at law firm and/or high-growth tech companyJD with an active bar membership in your jurisdictionUnderstanding of data privacy requirementsExceptional verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlinesProactive, dynamic and results-driven individual with strong attention to detailCurious and passionate about technologyAbility to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situationsLeadership and teamwork skills and willingness to take on new responsibilityAbout MongoDBMongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
