School Psychologist

Qualifications: Current enrollment in a school psychology degree program (M.A., Ed.S. or Ph.D.) from an approved NASP, APA or NCATE program.

Salary: Ten-month, full time position

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Engage in consultation, counseling, and crisis response.
• Assist with addressing mental health needs.
• Hold conferences with parents.
• Conduct psychoeducational evaluations for students suspected of having disabilities.
• Offer various training sessions to staff.
• Participate on multi-disciplinary district-level teams.
• Work with teachers, school staff, and families as part of a collaborative team within the school setting.
• Engage in regular professional development

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of computers, various operating systems, as well as word processing software, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Knowledge of school procedures and conducting psychoeducational assessments for the purpose of disability identification.
• Knowledge of interventions and best practices in mental health.
• Knowledge of the MTSS process.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to conduct professional development.
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with district staff.

Physical Requirements: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities. Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
