Nursing Supervisor - San Antonio

Job Summary A Nursing Supervisor is a licensed professional who provides direct and indirect patient care services under a physician’s plan of care and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Option Care Health, the state’s professional standards, and regulatory entities. The Supervisor is responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, patient and caregiver education, evaluating progress toward goals, and recommending changes in the plan of care. Clinical competency is maintained by providing direct patient care 20‑40% of the time and may include serving as an alternate administrator or director of nursing for Medicare‑certified agencies. Responsibilities Competent in the clinical management of home infusion patients, including patient management skills, the Nursing Process, and knowledge of Federal, state, and local regulations. Know documentation and billing requirements for home health/infusion care goods and services. Determine suitability of patients for home care and supervise, monitor, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care. Review and monitor appropriateness of Nursing Care Plans and direct staff to modify the plan as needed. Act as Administrator and/or Director of Nursing in the absence of a director or manager of nursing. Manage daily operations, ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, and maintain reporting requirements. Participate in assessing, managing, and reporting nursing operational and financial data to regional and area leadership. Support development and implementation of individual patient Plans of Care. Develop, implement, evaluate, and participate in office‑specific continuing education and orientation programs. Assist in recruitment, development, and monitoring of new staff. Coordinate and participate in on‑call responsibilities. Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information. Participate in or direct professional advisory committees, infection prevention, and process improvement teams, including conducting chart audits. Identify improvement opportunities and communicate them to leadership. Provide knowledge of the scope of services available and support sales professionals as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities Yes – the role includes hiring, recommending promotions, approving pay increases, scheduling, performance reviews, discipline, and other supervisory duties. Education and Experience Requirements Registered Nurse with a current license in the applicable state. 1 year of nursing supervisory/charge experience, or at least 3 years of relevant nursing experience with demonstrated progression. Required certification in CPR. Member of a state or national professional organization. Reliable transportation (personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance if required). Basic Qualifications & Interests (BQIs) Experience applying knowledge of local, state, federal, accrediting body, and OSHA regulations. Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers and meeting quality standards. Experience in indirect management of team members, including development, training, and assignment of work. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and determine escalation of issues. Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) BSN, CRNI, or other professional certification. At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a hospital or home health setting. At least 1 year of experience in indirect management of team members. Travel Requirements Willing to travel at least 25% of the time within the region for business purposes. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $80,588.55 – $134,299.83 (based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data).
