Catallia Mexican Foods, LLC is looking for an experienced Packer to join our team!

Shifts: *Required overtime every other Saturday per production demands
1st - 6:00AM - 2:30PM
2nd - 2:00PM - 10:30PM
3rd - 10:00PM - 6:30AM

PAY: $18.15/hr + $2 Shift Differential for 3rd shift only Position Overview
These are hands-on positions and will require that the individual be responsible for packaging tortillas into cases or trays. These repetitive positions are rotated regularly. The individual will be accountable for achieving operational goals while maintaining quality and safety standards. This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production, quality, and maintenance teams to maintain optimal quality, safety, and efficiencies. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions Bagger

• Quickly and neatly place the proper number of packages in the case, utilizing inserts if necessary.
• Confirm the quantity of tortillas in the stack and notify the lead if the count is not accurate.
• Quickly and neatly place tortillas in the package as they exit from the counter stacker.
• Inspect the seals and set aside any packages that do not meet quality standards.
• Verify that the proper packaging is available and being used at all times.
• Re -verify that the proper packaging is available and being used.
• Place the filled package in the proper location for sealing.
• Verify that the cartons are being sealed properly.
• Confirm that the proper cartons are being used.
• Verify that the code date is legible and accurate.

Boxer

• Ensure box printers are operating properly
• Prepare boxes for packaging of product
• Seal and tape product boxes

Palletizer

• Wrap the pallet with a layer of stretch wrap and move the pallet to the warehouse for loading.
• Empty food waste containers in the compactor and remove cardboard from the pack area.
• Place the cartons in a manner that allows the expiration coding to be read on all sides.
• Place the finished product on a pallet in the designated configuration and orientation.
• Confirm the quantity of cartons on the pallet and affix the proper bar code label.
• Re -verify that the proper packaging is available and being used.
• Verify that the code date on the carton is legible and accurate
• Verify that the proper packaging is available and being used.
• Ensure that the packing area has adequate supplies.
• Make sure that only good pallets are being used.
• Verify that the cartons are being sealed properly

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and communicating with maintenance.
• Actively participate in Food Safety and Food defense related activities.
• Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as directed.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Ability to take directions.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have previous experience working in packaging within a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Must be able to follow established safety, quality, and production procedures.
• Must be able to safely operate and monitor basic packaging equipment.
• Must be able to work at the required production pace.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Must be comfortable working in a warm environment, with temperatures potentially increasing during the summer months.
• Must have good mobility and be able to continuously bend, stretch, and perform repetitive movements.
• Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks safely and efficiently throughout the assigned shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds as required for bagging, packing, and boxing duties.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when performing palletizing duties.
• Must be able to push up to 50 pounds when performing boxing duties.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and bend throughout the assigned shift.
• Must be able to maintain the required production pace in the Flour Area.
• Must be able to work in a loud and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of previous food manufacturing packaging experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.

Position Backup

• Absences covered by other Baggers, Packers, or Boxers as assigned by Production Management
