Job Summary

Join a dedicated surgical team as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at a prominent healthcare facility in Carbondale, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and anesthesiologists, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through meticulous preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and adherence to sterile techniques. This position requires adaptability, as floating to other clinically appropriate units within the scope of practice and demonstrated competencies may be necessary to support patient care needs across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to patients during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by circulating and/or scrubbing, ensuring a sterile and safe operating environment.
• Prepare the operating room, instruments, and equipment according to established protocols.
• Monitor patient physiological status, administer medications, and document care accurately throughout the surgical process.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations within the operating room.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies and safety standards.
• Float to clinically appropriate units as needed, aligning with scope of practice, licensure, and demonstrated competencies.
• Participate in required on-call rotations to ensure continuous patient care coverage.
