Position Summary The Volunteer Coordinator role supports World Relief’s efforts to build a vibrant community engagement structure that positively impacts clients, World Relief, the church, and the community. This is accomplished through ensuring volunteers are engaged in the development of authentic relationships with immigrants, fostering welcoming communities for mutual transformation, building a strong volunteer onboarding and training experience, coordinating engagement with different programmatic areas, and providing ongoing support and development of volunteer engagement pathways. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation and oversight of the overall volunteer program including recruitment & onboarding, training, placement, engagement, retention and recognition. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees the entire lifecycle of all volunteers and creates meaningful relationships with individuals that are serving, making this role integral and long-term within the Church and Community Engagement Department. Work Arrangement This is a Hybrid position: 3 days in office, 2 days work from home. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Program, Training, Support, and Recognition Ensure a strong and dynamic volunteer base enabling the Fort Worth office to effectively support service delivery and community outreach objectives. Establish a comprehensive volunteer engagement plan including formal recruitment, training, communication and recognition plans. Recruitment & Onboarding Collaborate with other Church & Community Engagement staff to develop and implement recruitment strategies for critical volunteer opportunities, assessing and refreshing priorities on an ongoing basis. Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities to connect volunteers with the needs of programs and those they are serving. Represent World Relief at events to promote and recruit volunteer opportunities. Maintain a consistent, efficient and thorough application and screening process of all volunteers that complies with National Performance Standards; respond to volunteer inquiries in a timely, professional manner. Training and Coaching Provide orientation and training to all incoming groups and volunteers. Develop and conduct refresher and leadership development training sessions for existing volunteers and provide continual coaching throughout their service commitment. Maximize use of World Relief’s e-learning platform “the Workshop” to develop learning pathways for churches and volunteers. Placement Track database and manage volunteer assignments; develop targeted communications and engagement methods within the existing volunteer base. Monitor progress of each volunteer assignment and address performance deficits in a timely manner. Engagement and Retention Work with all departments to guide, identify and support volunteer staffing needs. Coordinate volunteer communications and collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on additional marketing needs. Plan meaningful volunteer recognition opportunities throughout the year. Ensure follow-up and communication with designated churches, organizations, and volunteer groups, including appreciation, events and thank-you notes. Develop and equip leader volunteers to support programs and new volunteers and to engage local churches in advocacy and service. Complete regular check-ins with volunteers to provide encouragement and practical support. Programs and Services Collaboration Collaborate with programs staff to assess, create, and support church and volunteer engagement opportunities and generate volunteer support referrals. Act as a liaison between volunteers and the office to ensure staff readiness for volunteer arrivals and that tools, resources, and materials are available. Attend department meetings to share volunteer input on client adjustment and integration, guiding volunteers to meet programmatic and missional goals. Ensure timely communication between volunteers and World Relief and relay needs to appropriate staff. Develop an office-wide volunteer philosophy and recruitment strategy with other Church and Community Engagement staff. Manage Volunteer Program metrics by developing and maintaining program evaluation methods and volunteer data tracking to evaluate effectiveness and growth opportunities. Provide training, coaching, and accountability to employees who interact with community partners and volunteers, focused on volunteer development and recognition. Participate in national volunteer staff working groups regularly. Other Responsibilities Represent World Relief at community events or speaking engagements as needed. Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Job Requirements Mature and personal Christian faith Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities Able to affirm World Relief’s Core Beliefs and related statements Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass MVR standards Strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to tailor messaging to diverse stakeholders Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines with limited supervision Ability to work under pressure in a virtual or in-person team setting Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities; willingness to analyze and adapt processes Knowledge of project management concepts, tools, and facilitation Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills Able to perform well amid complex or ambiguous challenges and build cross-department relationships Self-starter with initiative, follow-through, and strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and attend to details; passion for engaging volunteers Demonstrated ability to mobilize, motivate, coach, and facilitate individuals and teams toward a common purpose Familiar with Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, databases; design/marketing skills a plus Minimum two-year commitment to enable effective recruitment, retention, and relationship-building Occasional evening and weekend availability Preferred Qualifications Cross-cultural experience and ability to train adult learners about cross-cultural relationships Design/marketing skills a plus Bachelor’s degree preferred World Relief offers a competitive benefits package and employee discount program for full-time employees.
