Staff Accountant

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant supports the accounting and financial operations of the organization across property operations, development projects, and corporate accounting functions. Responsibilities include accounts payable processing, bank reconciliations, rent roll administration, draw preparation, sales tax compliance, and supporting internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient business operations.

Responsibilities:

• Review vendor invoices and prepare payments for Controller review
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for approximately 50 bank accounts and resolve outstanding reconciling items in a timely manner
• Process credit card chargebacks, management fee, work order and rental billings
• Record and reconcile cash receipts, including rental income, tenant reimbursements, and intercompany transfers
• Maintain accurate rent rolls for all operating properties and ensure lease information is up to date
• Prepare and distribute monthly commercial rent statements to tenants
• Assist with annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations across the operating portfolio
• Process monthly sales tax filings and customer billings for equipment rentals
• Prepare monthly construction and development draw requests for Controller review and lender submission
• Coordinate lender and title company requests and serve as a liaison between construction and development teams
• Assist with month, quarter and year-end close activities as assigned
• Provide support for special projects, process improvements, and other ad hoc accounting duties as needed

Important Attributes and Skills:

• 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or property accounting experience preferred
• Experience with QuickBooks, AppFolio, Sage, NetSuite, or similar accounting software preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team-oriented approach
