Job Description Summary ‎ West LA does not have a dedicated check in MA to greet and check in patients. Patient care MAs rotate checking in patients 3 days a week and the lead supports with coverage 2 days a week (the lead supports 3 sites- West LA, DTLA and Lawndale). Not having a consistent resource to be present at the front desk has impacted patient satisfaction from patients having to wait if MA is supporting a patient, and the team does not always have the bandwidth to support DREs. ‎ How will you make an impact & Requirements ‎ Assist clinicians with patient examinations and treatments under physician direction. Provide front and/or back office clinical support in accordance with Care Center or Medical Group Practice protocols. Greet patients in a friendly, service-oriented manner and facilitate a positive patient experience. Manage patient check-in by ensuring charts are prepared, medical records are available, patient information is current, and required paperwork is complete. Interview patients, obtain and document vital signs, and record the reason for visit. Explain procedures, perform treatments, and administer prescribed medications as directed. Support patient check-out by scheduling follow-up appointments, collecting co-payments when applicable, and ensuring documentation is complete. Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments. Reconcile co-payments at the end of each day in accordance with clinic procedures. Clinical Excellence & Patient Care Ability to support clinicians during examinations and treatments under physician direction. Knowledge of clinical procedures, vital sign measurement, medication administration, and basic treatments. Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and clinical best practices. Service Orientation Demonstrates a friendly, respectful, and patient-centered approach in all interactions. Creates a welcoming environment that supports patient comfort and trust. Responds effectively to patient needs, questions, and concerns. Attention to Detail Accurately documents patient information, vitals, and visit details. Ensures medical records, charts, and required paperwork are complete and current. Maintains accuracy in co-payment collection and daily reconciliation. Communication & Interpersonal Skills Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and care team members. Explains procedures and instructions in a way patients can easily understand. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and professionalism in diverse patient interactions. Efficiency & Workflow Management Effectively manages patient flow, scheduling, and appointment confirmations. Balances front- and back-office responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment. Follows established protocols and workflows to support smooth clinic operations. Professionalism & Confidentiality Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards. Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and ethical behavior. Adheres to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current and valid Medical Assistant certificate / certification from an accredited training program required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills may be required, depending on location or patient population. Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
