Buffet Cashier

Job Title

Welcomes guests, assist seating guests when needed, helping to ensure quality service. Handles customer payment transactions in an effective and efficient manner.

Essential Job Duties

1. Put forth a good first and last impression and welcome customers with a warm friendly smile and sincere greeting. Make every effort to insure absolute customer satisfaction.
2. Adhere to Host/Hostess-Cashier Service Standards.
3. Maintain proper information on dining room related signage at Buffet entrance. Assume responsibility for knowledge of specific buffet items being offered during your shift.
4. Comply with sales transaction processing and reporting procedures for cash, credit, cards, comps, discounts, coupons, gift certificates and room charges. Process gaming point redemption purchases on the POS System utilizing a guest's Club Meskwaki Card in accordance with established procedures. Adhere to Food & Beverage Variance Policy.
5. Answer the phone in a professional manner, takes and/or relays messages.
6. Answer customer questions concerning F&B venues, casino promotions, etc.
7. Respond to customer complaints in a professional manner. Notify shift supervisor of any/all complaints.
8. Report to shift supervisor immediately any customer that appears intoxicated.
9. Deter guest intoxication by monitoring number of alcoholic beverages served and visible signs of intoxication. Comply with F&B Department Alcoholic Beverages Policies and Procedure.
10. Report 100% of tips retained per departmental policy.
11. Display flexibility needed to meet dining room work schedule demands.
12. Assume responsibility for knowledge of all memos & other information issued by the Company and F&B Department.
13. Communicates and networks effectively with staff, other departments, and outside representatives in order to maintain a productive and effective department operation.
14. Safeguard and account for the assets of the owners.
15. Comply with policies and procedures required by the department, the company, the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission, and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
16. Monitor the casino environment and follow established safety procedures to provide for the safety of guests and co-workers.
17. Work respectfully and effectively as part of the company team to ensure guest satisfaction, asset protection, and co-worker respect.
18. Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.
19. Comply with all departmental safety regulations, using safety equipment as required.

Supplemental Job Duties

1. Assume responsibility for knowledge of all information in restaurant's Memo Book.
2. Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
3. Assist wait staff as needed.
4. Contribute to completion of shift side work tasks.
5. Perform other job related duties as assigned.
6. Maintain confidentiality.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

May be exposed to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds will be required with occasional periods of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds. Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time. Requires frequent bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, balancing, and pushing or pulling equipment. Some exposure to dining room related chemicals. Must wear tread safety shoes. Follow company and departmental appearance standards (wear approved uniform; no extreme hairstyles or jewelry; clean hands, fingernails and hair; no chewing gum or smoking cigarettes while working; no offensive tattoos visible to guests; no nail polish or overpowering colognes; etc.).

Minimum Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Work Experiences : Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to pass departmental test requirements. Previous host/hostess and cashier experience preferred. Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission.

Skills/Abilities : Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with other members of the staff and guests. Must have good reading, writing, and math skills. Must be able to count money and make change correctly. Basic computer or POS system skills required. Must be able to read and understand written policies, procedures, etc. Must possess normal hearing and vision abilities. Must be reliable, courteous and friendly and be able to work directly with the general public. Must be flexible with shift and days off. Must be able to handle busy and stressful situations. Must be able to meet all non-supervisory training and education requirements.

Preference : Members of the Meskwaki Nation and other Native American Tribes who are qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be given preference in accordance to established procedures.

Restrictions

This position is PROHIBITED from playing all casino games while on duty, except as authorized for employee tournaments. Otherwise, this position may play any casino game while off duty. Employees and members of the household are prohibited from entering company contests and giveaways established for our guests.
