Job Summary

Summary

Assists in the daily operation of radiation therapy services. Interacts with the physician and all office staff members to ensure patients receive timely treatment. Communicates effectively and supports leadership in attaining department goals.

Essential Functions
-Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely following departmental policies and procedures.
-Understands the function of all equipment accessories treatment policies procedures and protocols and applies knowledge appropriately
-Works with the Lead and Chief Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques and assists with emerging technology projects.
-Demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet age-specific requirements for the population being served in their unit including infants through elderly patients.
-Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program to encompass all aspects of treatment treatment delivery and quality patient care.
-Rotates to other treatment areas and demonstrates the knowledge and ability to maintain skills.
-Assists with orientation teaching and instructing new staff students visitors and other staff members who are unfamiliar with the department or specific procedures.

Education
Associates Degree Radiation Therapy required or Bachelors Degree Radiation Therapy preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Radiation Therapist State License required

Radiation Therapy R.T.(T)(ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required

Experience
Continuous clinical experience 3-5 years required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation tools and procedures specific to the assigned area and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians management peers patients and their families.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills including the ability to use appropriate judgment independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflicts.
- Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
- Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology including but not limited to: ARIA EPIC ExacTrac and Eclipse.
