Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Night Shift MedSurg/Infectious Disease RN!


Job Description:

- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with every-other-weekend requirement
- Unit: MedSurg/Infectious Disease (1E)
- Number of Beds: 18 Private Rooms (all due to Infectious Diseases)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 (1:4 if COVID); Typically staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift
- Required Experience:
- Previous travel experience is a must
- Expertise in EPIC electronic health record system


- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
- Any & all infectious diseases
- Isolation patients (COVID, MRSA, C-Diff, etc.)


- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) is necessary


- Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of MedSurg and Infectious Disease
- Familiarity with isolation precautions
- Experience with common IV medications (Heparin & others)


- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor:
- Charge Nurse available 24/7
- Night charge will take a full patient assignment


- CNA Support:
- 2 CNAs per shift


- Telemetry Support:
- Remote telemetry from the 3rd floor with monitors at the desk (RN's do not read or interpret strips)


- Scheduling:
- 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch break
- Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs
- Flexible block scheduling available


- Holiday and Weekend Requirements:
- May be expected to work holidays if needed
- Weekend shifts include Friday/Saturday/Sunday for nights


- Floating Requirements:
- Travelers are the first to float; required to float to any MedSurg unit


- Dress Code:
- Royal Blue scrubs are a must; no hoodies or non-scrub jackets


- Orientation:
- 1 day of EPIC training followed by 1 day on the floor with a preceptor
- 3rd day independent practice


- Cancellation Policy:
- Client may cancel up to 2 shifts for 13-week assignments
