And the people who answer it are fulfilled.The American Cancer Society is actively conducting two large prospective cohort studies – The Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) which is in active follow-up and VOICES of Black Women (VOICES) which is in the enrollment phase. Both cohorts use a custom-built web-based participant portal to collect survey and other types of data, support sub-studies, and engage established and new cohort participants. This participant portal is integrated into our study and data management platform that allows study managers to build and deliver surveys, manage participant communications and information, and process collected data for future analyses. This position will assist with CPS-3 and VOICES participant portal activities including participant recruitment, communications, database updates, survey development, substudy operations, data cleaning and data set preparation, community engagement and retention as well as documenting portal activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide critical programming support to CPS-3 and VOICES data management by (1) exporting data from online survey platform (2) importing, exporting and converting various files to/from R/SAS; (3) merging data from various sources; (4) reviewing output and cleaning data; and (5) refining existing quality control measures

• Assist with substudy and survey recruitment, survey notifications and follow-up by programmatically identifying eligible participant pools

• Apply batch participant updates to study manager application

• Assist in developing participant outreach/recruitment tactics/communications

• Assist with generating engaging participant facing portal site content to improve participant experience

• Contribute to participant portal, study manager application, and data analysis platform enhancements including providing feedback, testing, trouble shooting, and communications with vendor

• Assist in building and testing surveys in online survey platform

• Work in a team environment to explore ways to improve participant engagement and retention

• Assist Study Management staff with various activities surrounding CPS-3 and VOICES surveys, newsletters, cancer.org, and other miscellaneous projects by providing critical support in data clean-up and quality control processes

• Document all data processing work, programs, and survey response rates to facilitate record keeping and track participant engagement

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: ​Master's Degree in Epidemiology (MPH) or related field

• Years of experience: 1-3 years of experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations required

• Experience with personal computers, including familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets, required

• Proficient in R and/or SAS, required

• Adept at obtaining, manipulating, and processing electronic data

• Experience with database management, required

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to produce high quality work independently

• Ability to handle multiple projects and respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused and timely manner

• Familiarity with medical terminology

• Work experience within a research environment where data collection systems and protocols have been standardized, very helpful

• Eager to problem solve both independently and as a valued member of a dynamic team

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:

• Excellent communication skills

• Strong understanding of web portals and online data collection tools

• Familiarity with study administration within prospective research cohorts including epidemiologic methods, study participant interaction, data collection, follow-up and the tracking of such activities

The starting rate is $70,000 to $72,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
