Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist specializes in total joint, sports medicine, general, and ortho spine procedures, working under the direct supervision of a surgeon to facilitate safe and efficient surgeries. They ensure the operating room environment is sterile, equipment functions properly, and assist in the preparation and handling of surgical instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Prepare the operating room by checking supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
  
  
• 
  Scrub in, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and assistants, maintaining strict sterile technique throughout.
  
  
• 
  Assist in draping the sterile field and passing instruments to surgeons during surgery.
  
  
• 
  Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to incision and before wound closure.
  
  
• 
  Assist with terminal cleaning of the OR, sterilization of instruments, and prepping the surgical suite for subsequent procedures.
  
  
• 
  Support training of new employees and students in the Scrub Tech role, ensuring adherence to safety and sterile standards.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Obtain certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  
  
• 
  Possess at least one year of previous experience in surgical technology preferred.
  
  
• 
  Show proficiency in total joint, sports medicine, general, and ortho spine surgery procedures.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate excellent sterile technique, attention to detail, and teamwork.
  
  
• 
  Trade or technical school diploma or certificate in surgical technology required.
