Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Rotating Holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed Medical Surgical unit with a typical census of 22–26 patients, managing a wide range of diagnoses including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, DVT, pulmonary embolism, osteomyelitis, and comfort measures
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 4–5:1 on day shift
• Titrate Heparin drips per protocol; manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Perform IV starts and utilize unit resources when needed; collaborate with inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Monitor telemetry in coordination with the house-wide telemetry department using Philips equipment
• Float to other Med/Surg-like units as needed; no ICU or chemotherapy patient assignments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN License (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS Certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical Surgical or acute care inpatient setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and Philips equipment
• Experience managing high-acuity medical diagnoses such as sepsis, CHF, or pulmonary embolism
